In the year 2013 where some dream to see the palace of Saint -Cloud rise from the ruins and we celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of André Le Nôtre , large park officer who gave his case to the castle, a passionate team has a mission to revive this great historic mansion .
The interior views of Pierre -Ambroise Richebourg , official photographer of the Court of Napoleon III , gathered in one album belonging to Jean- Denis Serena , enabled Bernard Chevallier to find, piece by piece , much of movables saved from the fire of 1870.
These sumptuous furniture, these works of art , these paintings today placed in national and private collections, Marc Walter has photographed and put in relation with their performances on the views of Richebourg : furniture Louis XVI and Louis Philippe commodes Boulle cabinets lacquer or ebony , gilded wood consoles , imposing office king , candelabras , clocks, chandeliers, sconces , vases of Sevres porcelain or China , busts , statues, paintings by masters, Gobelins tapestries etc. . Old photographs , portraits and private scenes of the imperial family are in counterpoint to these fabulous designs , giving the book an intimate deeply human character .
The iconography of the gardens is also very varied , mixing prints , drawings, prints and contemporary photographs by Marc Walter
