-A major protagonist of the avant-garde de Stijl movement along with Piet Mondrian, Gerrit Rietveld’s (1888-1964) experimental and unconventional work radically changed the development of architecture and design in the twentieth century -Rietveld’s two best known works, the Red-Blue chair and the Schröder House, have influenced generations of architects and designers -Richly illustrated with photographs, drawings, paintings and archival materials showing every period of Rietveld’s work and life, including many previously unpublished images -Publication will coincide with the opening of a major retrospective exhibition at the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, The Netherlands, in Autumn 2010
