FRIENDS OF 7L
7L is a place dedicated to books. Being part of the circle of Friends of 7L means sharing the spirit of a salon guided by a passion for books.
In the tradition of the 18th century, so dear to Karl Lagerfeld, the creation of a monthly Reading Room was an obvious choice. Each month, a renowned figure is invited to talk about their career and the books that have shaped them. At the same time, the Correspondances cultural programme has been designed to perpetuate the creative spirit of the photo studio. Members of the 7L Salon can attend all the events organised around different disciplines: theatre, reading and performance, dance, music, photography and visual arts.
The 7L Salon also provides privileged access to the 7L library collection, which is available for on-site consultation.

The Reading Room
The Reading Room is the monthly meeting place for the Circle of Friends of 7L. Gathered in the large library-salon around a personality with a passion for reading, the Friends of 7L take part in an exchange around the books that have counted in the guest’s life. With emotion and simplicity, a conversation is woven through the red thread of his beloved books, interspersed with readings and music.
A dandy and a brilliant mind with a passion for aesthetics, Karl Lagerfeld built up a remarkable collection of furniture and tableware, some of which can be seen today at 7L. The Reading Room’s collation service is based on his reinvented art de vivre, using what he called his “trousseau”: precious linens, antique porcelain and monogrammed silverware.
The Correspondances
cultural programme
Committed to the love of books as objects and to supporting contemporary creation, Correspondances is made up of some thirty cultural events per season. In the form of invitations from contemporary artists and authors, the programme offers a series of original events created in situ, drawn from the six artistic disciplines represented in the Karl Lagerfeld library collection: theatre, reading and performance, dance, music, photography and visual arts. |
