ÉDITIONS 7L
Since 2023, the Éditions 7L publishing house has been writing a new chapter in its history. Committed to perpetuating the eclectic spirit of its founder, it supports projects in the fields of literature, photography, fashion, contemporary art, architecture, cinema and design, always with the highest standards of art book publishing in mind.
“I like the idea of a very diverse catalogue. My choices are guided only by my insatiable curiosity and my innumerable interests.”
Karl Lagerfeld
Following the novel La Chambre des écureuils and the essays Journal d’un peintre and Lettres provençales, the publishers Seghers and Éditions 7L continue to republish the literary work of Marie Laure de Noailles, one of the most important patrons of the 20th century and an emblematic figure in arts and literature. The third book in this series is devoted to her poetry and brings together three collections: L’An quarante (1943), La viole d’amour (1944) and Cires perdues (1953). This new work, entitled Poésies, features a preface by Chantal Thomas, member of the Académie Française.
Éditions 7L is publishing Chanel Haute Couture, a book imagined and edited by Sofia Coppola as part of her Important Flowers collection at Mack Books. Aged fifteen, she did an internship at the Chanel studio in Paris, an experience that marked the beginning of a unique relationship. In this highly graphic book, she gives us her vision of Haute Couture and an immersive history of CHANEL through a selection of fashion photographs and documents, in previously unseen visual encounters that forge links between different eras, savoir-faire and creations imagined and produced in the ateliers at 31, rue Cambon, Paris, for over a century.
Finally, Éditions 7L presents two books dedicated to photography. The first is with photographer Giasco Bertoli, based on his series Locations, New York. Through these images taken in New York in 2014 the invisible is revealed, in a search for locations that have served as backdrops to iconic films in the history of cinema. These locations, sometimes seemingly insignificant, reveal themselves decades later to be rich with the ghosts of emblematic scenes from the past, drawing film lovers into a fascinating memory game. The second is with Arhant Shrestha, winner of the 2024 7L Photography Grand Jury Prize. Co- published with Atelier EXB, this series of books presents a history of contemporary photography through the work of the winners of the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories – Hyères, held at the villa Noailles. The second opus in this collection, Loose Fist, is accompanied by a limited edition, signed print. Created as an exercise in confrontation and resolution following a traumatic experience, Arhant Shrestha’s images follow the evolution of his personal relationship with masculinity in Kathmandu, the city where he was born and where he lives today.

Éditions 7L were launched in 2001 by Karl Lagerfeld with the aim of publishing works that echoed his amical world, mainly in photography and fashion, with a focus on the production of the book as an object.
Between 2001 and 2019, with the collaboration of Steidl, Éditions 7L published some fifty books before falling dormant following the passing of Karl Lagerfeld.
